Wonderful infographic in a site from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Its important to know what a healthy diet looks like (more veggies) if that is how you want to eat.  I highly recommend anyone interested in healthy eating read through this site for a good collection of well researched articles.

To summarize:

  • 50% fruits and vegetables – aim for color and variety and potatoes don’t count.
  • 25% whole grains – whole wheat, barley, wheat berries, quinoa, oats, brown rice, and foods made with them, such as whole wheat pasta
  • 25$ protein: more fish! chicken, beans, nuts
  • use the good oils: olive, canola, soy, corn, sunflower, peanut…
  • mind the sugar
  • drink water
  • move!

The Healthy Eating Plate summarizes the best evidence-based dietary information available today. As nutrition researchers are continually discovering valuable information, The Healthy Eating Plate will be updated to reflect new findings.
